I have been an educator for 25 years in various capacities. My degrees are a BS in English Education, an MA in English, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction. Also, I have my National Boards for Professional Teaching Standards Certification in Early Adolescence Language Arts, having earned it in 2009. In my current position, I have taught all courses within the English Department, including Public Speaking, Reading 7 and Reading 8, and English. In all cases, I have created curricula from the ground up that are both viable and aligned to standards. In addition, I am the teacher leader for ELA in my building, the District's Speech and Debate Coach, am on the executive committee for my teachers' union, and teach professional development workshops. Also, I am an adjunct for Seton Hill University and teach courses for them when needed.
While working on my MA, I taught English as a Second Language to a group of Saudi women. That experience helped me to see the importance of cultural and learning differences, and I strive to respect all learners -- no matter what. I tutored at the IUP Writing Center, too, which solidified my love for all things writing.
I love teaching writing, designing and helping others design lesson plans, and tailoring lessons to fit each learners' needs. I have a site through Teachers Pay Teachers on which I offer some of my favorite lessons for purchase. Check it out if you are interested - just click on the link to the left!
Below are links to sites or documents that illustrate my love for learning and teaching; if there is any way that I can be of assistance, let me know! I would love to hear from you!
